The Minor Arcanas
The minor arcanas are split into four suits; which are numbered from 1 to 10; each suit has
also 4 figures; which gives 14 cards per suit and a total of 56 minor arcanas.
The suits are:
- Spears (or Wands),
- The Cups,
- The Coins,
- The Swords (or Knives)
While though consultations, the major arcanas give us a general idea of our future, the minor
arcanas go further and give us details about our intimate life.
Each Minor Arcana has a specific meaning:
- Spears: Male element
- Cups: Female element
- Coins: Economic element
- Swords: Action element
The Minor Arcanas also relate to the Four Elements:
- Spears: The Fire
- Cups: The Water
- Coins: The Earth
- Swords: The Air
We will not go into details of numerology but the numbers are important in the minor arcana
deck. Briefly explained here are the definitions that can be associated with each minor
arcana:
- 1: Male
- 2: Female
- 3: Child
- 4: Family (Home)
- 5: Harmony
- 6: Working
- 7: Peace
- 8: Justice
- 9: Prophet (reminder of the Hermit, major arcana VIIII)
- 10: Chance (reminder of the Wheel of Fortune, major arcana X)
- 11 or Page (Footman): Pending projects
- 12 or Knight: Successful projects
- 13 or Queen: Omens
- 14 or King: Association
